Closed Opportunity Sales Stage Behaviour

Hi,

i'm looking for a way to correct the follwoing bahaviour.

When the opportunity is closed as won the status gets 'won' and the sales stage (field) equals the recent process stage (e.g. develop).

When the opportunity is closed as lost the status gets 'lost' but this time the sales stage (field) becomes 'closed' even though the last process stage is not closing but e.g. develop.

At first i thought i has something to do with our customizations. But turning off all of them doesn't help.

However, my intention is to achieve the exact opposite of the current situation.

a) Opp. -> won -> sales stage = closed
b) Opp. -> lost -> sales stage = last stage

I was able to achieve a) with a custom workflow.
But was not able to find any way to achieve b)

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks

Alex

RE: Closed Opportunity Sales Stage Behaviour

    Hi Alex,

I have verified this behavior on my trial Dynamics 65 Online organization Version 1710 (9.0.2.1083) and the outcome is different than what you have observed i.e. irrespective of the current stage, the Sales Stage )field) is always set to Close when the opportunity is closed as Won or Lost. I am using the OOB BPF "Opportunity Sales Process".

With the recent changes to the BPF architecture where you can have multiple BPF associated with the record, I believe that instead of Sales Stage field, you should be using the Active Stage field from the associated BPF record.

    Read here: gustafwesterlund.blogspot.com/.../dynamics-365-new-bpf-architecture-gotcha.html

You can then refer this to set the stage using workflow -  dynamics365blocks.wordpress.com/.../how-to-change-bpf-stages-automatically-using-workflow-in-dynamics-365

    Hope this helps.

RE: Closed Opportunity Sales Stage Behaviour

    Hi Ravi,

    thank you very much.

I'm not sure if my solution is exactly what you suggested with the 'Active Stage field'.

But thanks to your advice i found the field called 'Pipelinephase' and it does the job perfectly.

It keeps the last pipeline stage for won / lost opportunities. The salesstage field gets to 'closed' in both cases.

But that's fine since i still have my info regarding the last stage tracked.

    Best

    Alex
