Finance Power BI app

With the standard list of power bi app reports available for BC, available through the app, is there a way to access the data model in powerbi desktop that makes up these queries?
It would be handy to use the data model as a basis to create further queries that could be created in the power bi service.
I have the same question (0)

    Hello,
Yes. For the newer standard Business Central Power BI apps, Microsoft provides the .pbix source files, including the semantic model, Power Query queries, relationships, and measures. You first install the app from Marketplace, then download the source code from the installed app and open it in Power BI Desktop; availability starts from version 26.2 or 27.0 depending on the functional app. Alternatively, you can connect Power BI Desktop directly to the published semantic model in the Power BI service and build additional reports on top of it, provided you have the required Build permission.

    Hi,
the source pbix is actually available now — I was going off older docs before. For Finance, Inventory, Inventory Valuation, Manufacturing, Subscription Billing and Sustainability it's there from 26.2, and Sales, Purchasing and Projects from 27.0. The way to get it is a bit hidden. You install the app from Marketplace first, then download the source code from the installed app itself, not the usual Download this file in the workspace. Once you have the pbix you open the full model in Desktop and build whatever you want on top.

If you don't need the whole pbix, you can still do Get data > Power BI semantic models and connect live to the installed model. That's read-only on the model, but you don't have to rebuild — use Make changes to this model to turn it into a composite, then add your own tables, measures and relationships locally. It won't expose the app's Power Query queries, but for extending it's usually enough. You need Build permission either way.
These apps are online only, so no on-prem worry here.

Glad to help - follow up if anything is unclear.
