Customer Insights - Data: Can I customize the columns displayed in a segment output table preview?

Hello,

I'm working with Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Data and reviewing the records of an output table generated by a segment.

When I open the table and select the Rows tab, the preview displays a very large number of columns, many of which contain only technical identifiers and GUIDs (CustomerId, ContactId, OwnerId, JourneyId, Marketing Form Id, etc.). This makes the data difficult to read and analyze.

My question is:

Is it possible to customize the columns displayed in the Rows/Data preview?
Can columns be hidden, reordered, or selected similarly to how we can customize columns in the Segments list view?
If this is not currently supported, is there any recommended workaround to display only business-relevant fields (for example Company Name, Email, City, Revenue, etc.) in the preview?

From my testing, I can customize columns in the Segments list, but I couldn't find a way to do the same in the table preview generated by a segment.

Any guidance or best practices would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Silvia Innamorati

Treat the Customer Insights output table as a data/technical layer rather than a presentation layer. Use Project attributes to control what business attributes are available in the output, and use Power BI, Excel/export, or OData $select when you need a controlled business-friendly column layout.

So, there is no indication that you are missing a permission or configuration setting. The inability to hide/reorder columns in the Rows/Data preview is a current product limitation/behavior, while column customization is available in supported list views such as the Segments list.

I believe your testing is correct. Microsoft’s current Customer Insights - Data documentation describes the table Data/Rows view as showing the table’s records and does not document a supported way to hide, reorder, or select columns in that preview.

Project attributes can help control which additional business fields are included in a segment output, but they do not turn the preview into a customizable presentation view. For a cleaner business-facing layout, I would use Power BI, Excel/export, or query the data through OData with $select for only the fields you need.

So I would treat the built-in preview as a validation/debugging view rather than the final reporting experience.
