Team Member License

Posted on by 5

Hi Microsoft,

We are building a CRM project and want to use the Team Member license to build certain capabilities. We have tried reading the 2019 Dynamics Licensing guide but many things are not clear in the guide, so I'm asking some questions below regarding the capability/boundary of this license.

1.   We have enabled knowledge management on a custom entity. Can a team member license user use the knowledge search control for that custom entity?

2.  Can a staff (internal) user with a team member license use the Employee Self Service Portal to raise and maintain cases on behalf of the external (public) contacts?

Thanks for your help in this regard.

    Hi MG0938

    1. Could you provide more details on the mentioned 'binds the cases for internal employees matters only as opposed to cases for general public.'?

General Public TML customer could submit cases and update Cases user has submitted (as a support client/customer)

The employee self-service (ESS) portal comes out of the box with a small set of sample pages and templates which helps you support your employees and provide a repository of information, policies, and practices at their fingertips.

It is designed to provide your internal employees with a space to ask questions, browse knowledge, and provide feedback.

    2. If you just would like to build a ticketing system. You could replace ESS with custom service portal. These 2 portals are foucsed on different audience type.

Both of them are used for issue management while ESS could bring more benefit to your internal employee like knowledge browser and feedback review.

Thanks Johnny for the reply. We are looking to build a ticketing system where general public can raise enquiries and complaints.

I want to get some more clarification on #2 with a TML user logging into using Azure AD.

    1. The cases that will be raised in our project will be for the public. Although, the licensing document does not go into detail by I wanted to clarify if there is an implied boundary with the word "Employee" Self-service, that binds the cases for internal employees matters only as opposed to cases for general public.

    2. Secondly, can a custom portal be used as Employee Self-service portal is lot of extra blurb which we do not need. It is easier to start with nothing (custom portal) and include what you  need. Rather than excluding all the unnecessary pages that come with ESS.

    Thanks.

In addition, I recommend the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Team Licenses explained posted by Iain Wicks which could help you on futher question surrounding TML:
