Workflow idea for quotes?

Hi,

I would love to know how one is intended to work with Quotes in Business Central?

I understand that not all bussinesses will work the same way, but I also assume that most would use quotes the classsic way.

In my business I would like to create a quote that is valid for a specific time period. When that time runs out. I want to archive the quote. (meaning remove it from the quote list, but save it so I can in the future check what customer has been quoted). This way I can get a good overview using the quote-tile on the main page of business central showing me only the current quotes.

IS something like this possible today in BC? I have notices the "Archive" function, but the document is still in the quote list.

Happy for any imput.

    Dear Peacerich,

When creating a sales quote you can enter a date in the field Quote Valid To Date

    sales-quote.PNG

After the date entered in this field has been passed, the quote is due and can't be converted to a sales order.

The quote doesn't get archived automatically in Business Central, but you could use the following sales setup.

In the Sales & Receivables setup you can enable the option Batch Archiving Quotes

With this option all due sales quotes can be deleted & archived in one batch.

Other option would be to create and install an extension for your business requirements.

    Kind regards,

    Floris

    Thanks Floris.

That sounds like a great workflow for Quotes. I will give it a try.
