My clients are real estate agents affiliated with a brokerage (company). I need to set up each agent as an individual customer rather than the brokerage. The agents may have different contact information from their brokerage.

1.Should I create a contact of type Company for the brokerage, then create a contact of type Person for each agent, linking the Company contact to the Personcontact?

2.When setting up customers, my customers are individuals (agents), not companies. I considered creating a customer record for each agent as a Person and linking it to their Person contact. However, I noticed that only Company contacts appear in the contact drop-down list on the customer card, and Person contacts are not shown.

How should I proceed to correctly set up customers in this scenario?

I do need the bill-to and sell-to parties to be the agents.  I can create the customer card for the agent and then link that to a contact card for the agent of type company like you suggested, but in this solution I haven't figured out how to link the agent contact card of type company to a brokerage contact card.  One of these scenarios is similar to what I need.  I need to maintain a connection between the agent and brokerage.  I've been trying to figure this out for days and it doesn't seem that it is supported out of the box. Does this need a custom extension?

Or you can create a customer and then use the Ship-to Address function, because the Contact inside is not associated with any table and is entered manually.

    Hope this helps as well.
    Thanks.

I believe you are not missing anything though as per my knowledge  whenever you are creating customer  system always understand it a "Company " and created contact by default as a company.

For defining the contact there is setup called "Marketing Setup" and Business Relation Code " and there is only you can defined customer, vendor, bank and employee.

If you are creating Person as a customer then why do you need to maintain separate contact ?

Lets see if any other expert may can give you better work around or if somthing which i have missed out.

    Thanks,

Do you need to create sales invoices where both the sell-to and bill-to parties are the individual agents? If so, each agent should have their own customer card in Business Central. Each customer card should be linked to a contact with the type set as "Company." However, in this case, you would not create sub-contacts with the type set as "Person" under these contacts.

If your sales invoices have the sell-to as the agent but the bill-to as the brokerage company, you can handle it differently. In this scenario, create a customer card for the brokerage company. The contact linked to this customer card should have the type set as "Company." Then, create sub-contacts for the agents, setting their type as "Person."

Thanks for the information.  I was missing a couple of the items you pointed out like the tax identification needing to be a natural person and Copy Sell-to Addr to Qte From.  I have a couple of clarification questions.

    1.  I've tried creating the person contact first and link the person customer to the person contact, but when I try this the contact list is blank.  I would expect that this list shows all of the contacts that I have created so I can link the customer to the contact.  I can only create a new person contact from this list.  Am I miss-understanding how this works?

    2.  If I create a Person contact, select their company contact, I get an error when clicking on the Business Relation.

    Hello,

I believe your problem you can be address with following steps and create the customer card

    1. Create Customer template where you can specify the Contact type : Person (BC have already defined this in evaluation setup company )you may refer from there.

    2. When you are creating new customer select this template.

    3. Change Tax identification type : Natural Person (As per your requirement )

    4. Yu may change the value in "Copy Sell-to Addr. to Qte From"

    5. Create contact manually as a person and specify  in customer card  manually.

I hope this will work for you.

    Thanks & Regards,
