Field Level Security on Opportunties

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I've had a request to modify the security level on Opportunities between Sales people.

They need to see all Opportunities across their teams to know if there's a potential conflict of interest, but don't want to share those details. Basically they want all users to see about 4 or 5 fields that are high level and then lock the rest so that they can only be seen to the User that owns it and their assistant.

I looking into field level security and I don't think this will meet our needs as it's an all or nothing on certain fields, it doesn't look like it can be combined with levels for each CRUD value.

Am I overlooking another option? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Brianna

Or u can copy those fields and use security by field, Imagine "Meeting Date Team A" and "Meeting Date Team B" so when both person only can see they security field.

    Greetings,

They'd like all Sales people to have access to the Title of the Opportunity, the Account it's associated with, who the Owner is and the Date Received but not other fields.

The Owner and their Assistant should be the only one to have access to all fields on that Opportunity.

As I'm describing this I'm wondering if I could create a Business Rule that if Owner (Field on the Opp) OR Assistant (Field on the Opp) does not equal the current user to then hide the fields I want to hide.

This wouldn't solve them from seeing it in the system views though....

Is there any more detail you require Alagu?
