I have a client who uses segments in Dynamics GP and wants to go to D365. Are the Dimensions available in both Financials and Operations?

    Hello,

    Dimensions are available in Financials.  I don't know about Operations, you would need to ask over on the Dynamics 365, Enterprise Edition forums.

    You must be on user experience 'Suite' to see Dimensions in Financials.  It does actually warn you of this if you attempt to migrate into Financials and have Account Segments.

    You can navigate to the Company Information window to switch the User Experience to Suite if you haven't already done so.

    I have a client on GP10 using account segments. So I have to upgrade them to 2013 or later and then migrate, switch the user experience to Suite to make it work. How about integrations? They are using eConnect in GP?

    Yes, they would need to be upgraded first.

    Depends on what they want to integrate, there are some different possibilities.  The Edit in Excel feature may be enough for them.   The more advanced option would be using Web Services to expose pages in Financials.  This would allow you to integrate data through OData, OData V4, or SOAP.  You would need to have a developer create a solution for this or use some kind of 3rd party.  eOne Solutions SmartConnect works for this purpose for example.  There are OData add-ons for Excel and other options out there I'm sure.

    So if they have developers who know Web Services, they don't need an add on like SmartConnect?

    Yep, take a look at the NAV documentation on Web Services.  Financials is built on this and will work in the same way essentially.
