Reuse CRM Service Accounts

Posted on by 390

Is it supported or a good idea to reuse service accounts on two installations of CRM in the same domain? I have two completely separate installs, one for dev (with a CRM server and a SQL Server) and one for prod (with it's own CRM Server and SQL Server). Can I use the same service accounts for the async service and sandbox service or will it cause problems. Unless I have overlooked it, I can't find anything in the documentation about it.

    RE: Reuse CRM Service Accounts

Technically you can use the same account on both of your deployment but it is always better to use separate service account to avoid any unknow issues.

This also ensures that you don't accidentally run something on prod with that account. I had something similar where I forget to change the Organization URI back to dev config and ran that app. Now, cause the same user exists in prod, the app ran. If I would have different users that that would have not happened :)
