Microsoft dynamics CRM 4.0 compatibility

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

We have separate servers for CRM 4.0 application, SQL and Reporting Service. And we are about to apply SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 3 for Reporting server. While checking the compatibility there is no post or information related to SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3 and we want to know whether it will support further. Please let us know any information related to this which would be helpful for us.

Thanks,

Arun

I'm not sure you'll get a definitive answer. Microsoft would tell you that CRM 4 is out of mainstream support, so I doubt they'd commit to anything.

It's likely that it would work to upgrade an existing server to SQL 2008 R2 SP3, but less likely that you'd be able to install the CRM 4 reporting services connector onto a new server with SQL 2008 R2 SP3. However, the safer option (ignoring security updates) would be to not change anything
