Principal user is missing prvReadsav_viewroleconfiguration

Posted on by 495

Hi all,

I've got a security role issue I'm trying to resolve where users open advanced find and get the following error:

Error Details: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.OrganizationServiceFault]: Principal user (Id=XXXXX, type=8, accessMode= 0, roleCount=4, privilegeCount=753, is missing prvReadsav_viewroleconfiguration privilege (Id=XXXX (Fault Detail is equal to Exception details:

ErrorCode: 0x80040220

Message: Principal user (Id=XXXX, type=8, accessMode= 0, roleCount=4, privilegeCount=753, is missing prvReadsav_viewroleconfiguration privilege (Id=XXXX

I'm unable to find any documentation on the prvReadsav_viewroleconfiguration privilege, searching by name or ID. Anybody know what this is referring to, or where I might look to find it? This is D365 9.1 online. Also,  the sysadmin role doesn't kick up the error.

Thanks,

    Hi David Griffith Sal,

Third party entities are custom entities and custom entities have no access allowed for any security role or user upon initial creation. The error occurs as the user attempted to perform an action that they did not have the required privileges for.

This helped me out a lot.   But I'm curious, why CRM 365 cares about a 3rd party entity.   Does anyone know?

The third party tool is the "View-Role configuration" from the Xmtoolbox that installs a solution in the organisation.

Beware if you click on import Solution.

Thanks Adrian, found it - it was a custom entity added by a 3rd party add-in.

    Hi Rob Landolt,

Search your instance for an entity with the sav_viewroleconfiguration schema name. You will need to give the users a security role with read privileges for this entity to resolve the issue.
