Dynamic marketinglist selecting contacts on a Dynamic marketinglist

Hi all,

I have a question about dynamic marketing lists. Is it possible to get contacts on a dynamic marketing list that are on several other dynamic marketing lists?

I'll describe my situation.

I want to have constant overview of all relevant and marketable contacts for a few specific segments. The contacts are selectied by a variaty of advanced search query's. For example contacts that have downloaded a specific whitepaper (that info is on the entity leads), former participants of a specific training (that info is on the entity registration), people with specific job titles (thats on contacts), etc. So, this is the input. I've made 3 dynamic marketinglists. One list per query.

I want to get these contacts together on one list. Can I use a Dynamic marketing list for this?

I've seen underneath question, but that was 7 years ago. Maybe this has changes in the meanwhile?

See highlighted section in my image below, That is where we can add filter. Select Attribute from dropdown, Select operation and the value.

Thanks again for your detailed explaination.

We tried it and you describe, "Add filter condition List Name Equals Your Marketing list name", in the printscreen you see that Filter is read only and I cannot select Marketing List.

Hi,

it is possible to get fetchxml for dynamic marketing list on Online instance. Yo could also give it try.

Navigate to below link. Download and Install managed solution.

github.com/.../releases

Once installed, you can navigate to settings->Customization. You will see Rest Builder ribbon button

Click on button.

Select Retrieve multiple, Select List, and then selecte query field . Add filter condition List Name Equals Your Marketing list name

Then click on Create Request->Execute code-> In respose you will get Fetchxml. Copy this fetch xml and use xrmtoolbox to check the result of this fetchxml.

You can use XRMToolbox. Login to xrmtoolbox and connect to your CRM instance.

Search For Fetch XML builder plugin and paste below marketing list and click on execute.

Thanks for the suggestions. This is a bit to technical for me, so I asked our supplier. But they to can't get this done this way. We are on 365 online.

Is the conclusion this isn't possible at a functional way?

Hi,

Can you check query field data on marketing list, Query field is used by system to store the fetchxml for dynamic marketing list, if you coud check that and try to execute the fetchxml generated by the system and see how many records are returning?

You will not get query field value from advanced find but you can use rest builder to get the data.

Ideally it should work but suspecting something is odd. Have you tried enabling trace on server if it onpremise?

Can you check chrome developer tool network tab to check if everything is getting success and nothing is getting logged in chrome developer tool.

Thanks for reaching out. I appreciatie that!

But it doesn't work. Here are some screenshots of the list where all contact should be gathered:

1. Its a dynamic list.

2. The query looks up contacts from another dynamic list. You can see there are 202 hits. I click 'use query'

3. But no contacts are selected on the list itself....

So my conclusion is: you can't get contacts from a dynamic list on a dynamic list... But that's strange, isn't it?

Hi

From my understanding of your situation this is totally possible.

You can create three dynamic marketing lists, each one with one of your filters:

1.-Downloades specific whitepaper

2.-Participant of a specific training

3- Specific Job title

And then create a fourth dynamic marketing list joining all filters.

4.- Downloaded specific whitepaper or Participant of a specific training or Specific Job title

This marketing list will gather all contacts from the 3 previous ones.
