Thank you for you question.
RMS has been tested and found to be compatible with SQL 2005 through 2014 at this time.
Please note that in order to use SQL 2012 or later, you will need to be on at least Cumulative Update 5 (CU5/Build 2.0.2000).

Any, SQL 2005, 2008, 2012 should work. Depends what update you are at. 2008 seems to work with the least complications.
