I am following a D365 BC training/tutorial and it says how to create first extension via visual studio code by using a docker. I don't have docker but I have VM for D365BC, I want to know how I need to configure Launch.jason file, server details? And from where I will install vsix file.

Do you have a VM with D365BC installed locally or inside a Docker container?

server must be your server name (name of your local machine or name of your Docker container) and serverInstance must be the instance of the D365BC server you're using. It depends on your environment configuration.

Could you use this for the out of the box sandbox version Stefano?

You said that you have a VM. What VM do you have? A VM with Docker or a VM where you have manually installed D365BC on-premise?

Regarding the last question: yes, if you have activated an online sandbox environment you can use that environment for developing. AL:Go! command asks you what environment to use (if cloud sandbox or your local server). If you choose cloud sandbox that you will be prompted to insert your credentials (Microsot account for accessing your online tenant) and you are connected to the sandbox.

Stefano, let me try connecting as you explained and get back to you. I am a slow learner. :D

I am following below link and steps in it.

    https://forum.mibuso.com/discussion/72341/dynamics-365-business-central-new-modern-development-environment

    a. I have one VM of D365BC on our local network. I can access that machine and login to D365BC.

    b. I also have userid and password to connect online D365BC from login.microsoft.com  url.

On steps mentioned in above mentioned link, when I select 'Install from VSIX", my question is where and how I browse to get VSIX file for both of the above mentioned scenarios a and b.

Point 3 of link is totally confusing.

After that when I choose sandbox option, it wouldn't ask me for userid and password.

Please let me know what I am missing or doing wrong, or am I getting whole container/sandbox idea incorrectly.
