Adding custom xml files into the packaged application

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask if there is any way to integrate any custom xml files as part of the application that is getting created by the AL compiler.

Right now, when i am trying to include the xml, when i package the application i am getting the following message:

warning AL1025: The file at location 'c:\Users\liatsoss\Documents\AL\Liquid Dispenser\Translations\custom.xml' does not match any definition.

and by looking into the app by unzipping it, i can see that the xml has not been included.

The reason that i would like the xml to be part of the application, is that we are delivering some setups as custom xmls and then the users are using some xmlports to import those xmls.

In my case, i would like to automate that process and as soon as the user installs the extension, the above process will be triggered automatically by the install codeunit.

Thanks in advance,

This is not possible. I think the best practice is not to include any data or PII within an extension.

What typically partner does is to call an external service through HttpClient call during the assisted setup of the extension to populate tables with result of these calls. This would be the best and duly qualified solution that would qualify your extension for AppSource validation.

There is still - if my mind assist - for on-premise the capability of extracting and including data suing Export-NavAppTableData
