Currently the system is set up with main (back office) pc holding all of the database information and another POS pc out front performing POS operations. I am currently in possestion of a 2.0 disk and would like to upgrade. I am wondering how i would go about the upgrade. Do i just put the disk in the machine and let it update itself? Do I have to uninstall v1.2 first? How do i keep all of my databses (customer) so that they will show up in v2.0? If i do the backup in v1.2 can that be read by the v2.0 software?

Always do a backup first.
You would have to install 2.0 and then open Admin program. login to the database server and select the upgrade option.
More important though is the licensing key changed from a physical key in version 1.2 to a software key in 2.0. Which means you have to contact your partner or microsoft to receive new keys for your system.
