Qualifying Leads without creating Opportunities

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Ideally I'd like to qualify my imported leads and just create contacts.  Then I want to create a campaign to contact these people and convert them to opportunities if I've made contact with them.  Should this be possible, any suggestions if so?

At the moment, qualifying creates contacts and opportunities.

You can also use free Zap Lead Qualify without Opportunity App to achieve this.

Yes, There are couple of ways to do it.

    1. You hide the out of the box Qualify button and have your custom QUALIFY button which can invoke the JScript method to create the only the intended contact creation in the format you wanted.  You can refer the article here with code on how to implement this. This calls the same QualifyLeadRequest used by CRM , except it sets the opportunity creation flag as false.

    2. You just allow the OTB Qualify button to create an opportunity and de-activate /delete that with a simple WF.  you can refer Gus's blog on how to achieve this.

    3. Build your own custom business process form for Lead/Opportunity and add stage and custom ribbon button. This custom qualify can just create contact  by triggering your own simple workflow.

Let me know if this helps.

    Here's a similar forum thread: community.dynamics.com/.../151869

For the requirement to create an opportunity when you contact someone, you can likely use a workflow for this. What action should lead to a new opportunity record for a contact?  When the first email is sent or received by the contact?  Or on-demand from the marketing list?
