Hello all,
Currently, all our contacts are stored in BCM 2010 (4500 contacts & other leads). We recently bought a few licenses for Dynamic CRM as we are hoping to progressively move away from BCM onto a better, more stable platform.
However, we have a bit of a challenge to overcome. Our small organization is running Exchange 2013 on-premise and many of our users use BCM to obtain contact info and other details. After the migration, all our contacts will be under Dynamic CRM (importing from BCM into Dynamic CRM will be another challenge of course). How do we allow users (who do not need access to leads, accounts and other dynamic CRM features) to only access the contacts without having a license? It is not feasible for all our employees to obtain a CRM license as most of them only need the contacts list we currently have in BCM. Is it better to import these contacts into our global address book for Exchange (4500+ contacts) ?
All our users will be receiving E3 licenses (without the Dynamic CRM add-on, except a few people) so, the plan is to move into a hybrid environment. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Best,
Dev

For your users to access CRM data you will need a license. But if they only need to work with contacts an Essential license will be enough.
Obviously if they need access to other parts of CRM they would need a basic or professional license. Depending on the access required.
