Trying to switch credit card processors. Mastercard/visa and discover goes thru. American express gets a connection error 501; bad host. The processor says its something with RMS. It worked fine for the previous processor.

we are trying to switch to NPC, restoring the defaults made it work.
Who is your bank or merchant services people?
Thank you, I tried all of the above but the restore defaults. I'll give it a try.
I agree with Andy. I have seen this many times and it is always that the processor forgot to flip the switch! Problem is always getting the right person on the phone. The way we usually resolve it is to tell the sales person we are not satisfied and intend to move to another processor. You'd be surprised how fast it gets fixed!

You will want to double check all your Merchant settings in the EDC configuration area.
Most likely this sounds like its a problem with your processor. RMS doesn't care if it is a Visa/Amex/MC/Disc, it just processes using your merchant number and Vital number information.
From Store Administrator, go to File > Configuration
Then go to EDC tab. If you are using the 'Preffered aquirer Credit/Debit' option, click on advanced options.
Then click Advanced options again. Here you will see the Credit and Debit URL. If you are processing through the Tsys/Vital network, you can click 'Restore Defaults' button here. Save your changes, and test your cards again. Changes do not take effect until you exit out of Store POS and re-open the program.
