Microsoft Dynamics SL (Archived)

Using SL SharePoint Site Configuration is failing with SharePoint 2016

Posted on by

I've been trying to configure a 'Customer' entity type SharePoint site from SL CU2 to our SharePoint 2016 installation. This is in a development environment, so we are using the temporary Microsoft-supplied standard license for SharePoint 2016. SL is properly licensed for the modules we have turned on.

We keep receiving the following message:

System Message 9868

The Doc Share Web Service located on the specified Root Site URL cannot be contacted. Possible causes are, an invalid URL, an ill-formed URL (\\ vs //), or the Doc Share Web Service is NOT installed at the specified url

I can't seem to find any information about this specific error anywhere, and the company I work for does not believe in training (cuts into profits you see), so I am pretty much flying blind here. I wholly expect this is an issue with SharePoint, because I attempted connecting to it (SharePoint 2016) from another SL instance at the same patch level, and received the same error. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any info about the 'Doc Share Web Service', or what may supersede it in version 2016.

The Content Site is located at a straight-forward root url: http://server.domain.domain.com:1234/

Any hints would be appreciated!
