I need some help/suggestions how to create better sales focused dashboards

Hi All,

I need some help/suggestions how to modify and also create better sales focused dashboards within Dynamics.  I have been told that the dashboards that were created by our SI were not up to par.  I have been asked for the ability to report in one place.  Have more usable opportunity/pipeline views.  I am looking to add or replace current dashboards with more sales person related info like top 10 customers.  I am open to all suggestions.  One more quick note, we are int he construction space.

Thanks in advance.
Adam

Redesign the dashboards around sales processes and decision-making, not just data presentation. Create role-based dashboards for executives, managers, and sales reps, emphasizing KPIs, actionable opportunity views, and customer insights. For a construction business, include project-specific metrics such as pipeline by project stage, bid deadlines, project value, and regional performance. If users need consolidated reporting across CRM and other business systems, consider embedding Power BI into Dynamics 365 Sales for richer, interactive dashboards while using native Dynamics dashboards for day-to-day operational activities. This combination provides a scalable, user-friendly reporting experience that supports both frontline sales teams and leadership.

@11manish  Thanks.  This is helpful, however, I am still new to Dynamics and the Power Platform and would really like to learn how to do this specifically create role based dashboards.  We have PowerBI but my sales reps would prefer to look at the sales data within the Dynamics dashboard. Can you point me in the right direction how to create these types of dashboard views within Dynamics itself? Some of the types of reports we are looking for include Top 10 $ deals, top 10 declining deals, Top sales reps, etc... Any recommendations or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Instead of one large dashboard, consider creating dashboards for different audiences:
    • Sales Executive Dashboard – Overall sales performance, pipeline value, forecasts, win rate, and revenue trends.
    • Sales Manager Dashboard – Team performance, opportunities by stage, aging opportunities, forecast accuracy, and salesperson activity.
    • Salesperson Dashboard – Personal pipeline, upcoming meetings, overdue tasks, top customers, recently won/lost opportunities, and next actions.
    Best Practices
    • Keep each dashboard focused on a specific audience.
    • Limit dashboards to 8–12 key visuals.
    • Highlight actionable information rather than just historical data.
    • Use consistent colors and naming conventions.
    • Include charts that help users identify priorities, such as overdue opportunities or deals needing attention.
    • Review dashboard usage with sales teams regularly and refine based on feedback.

A good starting point is to focus on the KPIs your sales team uses every day. For a construction business, I'd include pipeline by stage, top 10 customers, open opportunities by value, win rate, upcoming follow-ups, and monthly sales trends. Keeping everything on one clean dashboard makes it much easier for sales reps and managers to track performance and take action quickly.

@CU26051041-0  Thanks.  This is very helpful.  I am a newer admin still getting the lay of the land of the platform. Do you have any suggestions where to start?
