This is a pretty broad question. Here is a link to the Inventory Control Manual for GP in PDF format: www.microsoft.com/.../confirmation.aspx
Chapters 14 and 15 are all about inventory sites and their usage. I would recommend reading this as a primer, and then asking clarifying questions as necessary.
