Dynamics 365 (CRM): Upload Documents to SharePoint

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello Community,

Does anyone know when we upload document on an entity in Dynamics 365 (CRM) to SharePoint, does Dynamics create any record to represent the individual document upload? For example, if I am working with the Account entity in Dynamics, and let's say I have an Account record called "Account ABC". If I upload 2 documents for Account ABC to SharePoint, via the Document area (via the Dynamics 365/SharePoint integration), does Dynamics create 2 records somewhere in the system that represent the 2 uploads? And if yes, what would be the name of those records and how can I query it using Advanced Find?

The reason for asking this is that I like to have a way of query in Dynamics to track when each document has been uploaded against what entity, by which user, etc.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thats correct all the Document libraries or folders on a SharePoint server from where documents can be managed in Microsoft Dynamics 365.

Additional you can refer this as well: docs.microsoft.com/.../set-up-dynamics-365-online-to-use-sharepoint-online

Thanks for using the Dynamics community,

    Hi,

No, CRM doesn't store any information about the files/ folders created within the linked document liabrary. It only stores the root location of the folder where the files/ folder will be stored in SharePoint. This is stored in Document Location entity.

If you want to perform any operations on the content of the folers, you need to use SharePoint apis within a custom workflow/plugin.

    Hope this helps.
