Inventory - GL Recon

Hello,

I need to clear the old "expected cost" value by using purchase receipt lines, posting the invoice, and then creating a credit memo to offset it. These lines don't involve actual inventory, but I'm receiving a direct posting warning when running the "Inventory - GL reconciliation" because I'm posting to the liability account, which doesn't have "direct posting" enabled. Is it acceptable to leave it as is since the GL accounts are balanced, or is there an additional step required?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Can you send us what journal entry you are trying to post? The screenshots don't seem like an error; it looks like a message box.

@YUN ZHU we can't use the undo receipt feature because I believe there was movement on the sales order. Any other ideas?

    Thank you!

If you have posted the invoice and credit memo, this has already affected the general ledger.
If you only want to affect the "expected cost", you should use Undo on the purchase receipt lines instead of canceling it using the invoice -> credit memo process.
If you want to adjust it individually, although it is not recommended, you can only enable direct posting

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Thank you @Suresh K

I reversed my credit memo and will make an adjustment through a journal instead so I can clear the vendor (liability) and inventory, but I am still getting the error attached. Below is the adjustment I made:

    DR: Vendor (liability)
    CR: Inventory

Just to recap I am currently clearing purchase receipts that were never invoiced and have value sitting on "Expected Cost" affecting our inventory valuation.

    Thanks again!

You cannot leave like that; you need to debug and see why you are getting that error. You should be able to run that report successfully.
