Enable Filter on Subgrid

Posted on by 30

I have a client with some interesting requirements.  In a normal view you have the option to click on the filter icon and filter the data presented, but I don't see that option in the subgrid on a form.  If I pop the subgrid out of the form, the option becomes available.   I did some research and came up with nothing.  Most of it has do do with fetchXML filtering, which is not the option I am looking for...

Is there a way to enable the filter option either through properties or scripting.  Am I missing something.  I'm surprised no one has asked this.

I solved this problem years ago, but the solution sucked.  I have since moved away from this god awful system.  If I remember and its been quite a few years, I created a form with dropdowns, used the data from the drop downs to filter a SOAP request that was then applied to the subgrid.  It was cumbersome, but it worked until our contract expired, and we moved on to bigger an better CRM Systems.  Good luck!

Ahh! We are still stuck on on-premise and that's why we can only dream about it ;) Thanks for your tip!

No, I am talking about new subgrid

This is a only read subgrid, but now you can filter and drag column. Plus, you can see the total number of the records

If this means the EditableGrid, then it has other disadvantages. For example, it does not show how many results and how many pages there are.

Yes, new subgrid has filter on column's header

    Hi King,

Currently this feature is not available in CRM. If you would need go through webresource customization

    RE: Enable Filter on Subgrid

    Hi,

There currently is no way of filtering subgrids on the form in the same way that you can in the full grid - however if you move to Dynamics 365 you can enable editable grids that have the filtering option built in.

    See community.dynamics.com/.../dynamics-365-editable-grids

    Hope this helps
