Can we Increase the limit for adding fields in Search and Filter Index

Hello there,

In Customer Insights while working on Customer Profile cards by default it gives a limit of 20 fields to be added in search and filter index. Is there any way that we can increase this limit?

I have the same question (0)

AFAIK, that's a built in limit.  Someone at MS may be able to make a tweak, but I've been working with ci for over  a year and incorporate the "Up to 20 fields" language in our SOWs. One 'cheat' is to concatenate all the fields you want into another field on Data Source, the way the wildcarding works you'll pull back everything.

    Hi Abhishek,

Could you explain what your use case is: Understanding the scenario better helps us in finding the best solution for it.

    Hello Nils,

We are working for a client to build customer insights and client requested us to include around 30-35 attributes that they want to view a customer profile card. I guess current the limit is 20 attributes to add to a profile card. I think I should reach out to MS support for the same.

RE: Can we Increase the limit for adding fields in Search and Filter Index

    Hi Abhishek,

Thank you for clarifying your scenario. Sounds like there's a misunderstanding on what adding fields to the Search & Filter index is controlling. To clarify let us distinguish the following:

    1. How many fields can a customer profile in audience insights have?
    2. What does adding fields to the Search and Filter index do?

Answer to 1: There are no hard limits on how many columns your unified customer profiles can have.
You are free to ingest data sources and then unify them as broadly as your scenario needs. How many columns your customer profile has is determined by your instance's setup of map, match and merge. It is not affected by the search and filter index.

Answer to 2: Search and Filter index only configures search functionality for customer profiles.
The attributes you choose to add to the index define what users can search and filter for in the Customers page in audience insights. As part of the search result view on the Customers page, the interface displays all indexed fields as part of the result cards. To see all data for a specific customer (not just those max. 20 fields) the user can access the Customer details page, by clicking on the respective card. In that details page you will see all fields of the customer profile plus additional data for this customer like their activities, some measures and some enrichments.

Please let me know if this clarified your concerns about the limit.

    Hi Nils,

Would like to hear your input on best practices while selecting which fields to add to the Search and Filter Index,

Would this be helpful for large number of Customers?

our client said they were told that they cannot use this feature to isolate/export a larger list of customers.  So if we added “Country” (for example) as one of the filters, then it wouldn’t have great value other than to look at a random customer from the filtered country?

I am thinking. they could use it with no issue, but if they want to isolate/export it is better to create a quick segment?

    THanks

    Hi Nory,

For exporting sets of customers it is recommended to use your exports. There are options to export full entities or specific segments targeting other services. Please consult our documentation on exports: docs.microsoft.com/.../export-destinations

Audience insights contains a powerful segment builder which allows you to solve filtering needs with a query editor. Please consult our documentation on segments: docs.microsoft.com/.../segments

Please let us know if that helped.
