AFA Report not totalling correctly when a column is hidden

Posted on by 35

Hi,

We have a report on AFA that we have been running for many years successfully.  Each year we update the date to reflect the new year and it's been fine.  This year, we are having an issue getting the report to print correctly when we hide certain columns.

This report consists of 21 columns and 37 rows.  Column 2, 3, 4 anr hidden columns.  Column 5 is a calculated column that totals columns 2, 3, and 4 - it is not hidden.  Row 16 is the total of rows 12, 13 and 14.  None of the rows are hidden.  If I hide columns 2, 3 and 4, row 16 does not pick up the value in row 14.  If I unhide column 2 the value in row 14 is picked up and included in row 16.  Any idea how I can get this report to calculate row 16 correctly and still leave column 2 hidden?

Thanks!

    Hi Leslie,

Thanks for the suggestion!  Yes, I can't believe they still use AFA almost exclusively for their reporting - and it's not like we haven't tried to convert them either.  That said, I've tried duplicating the report, inserting columns to either side of the existing hidden columns, unhiding all columns except column 2; I've deleted Rox 16 and recreated the total line as well.  The weird thing - the report worked correctly (with the columns hidden) when they ran it for December 2012 (year end).  But when they run it for January 2013, it will not run correctly if the column is hidden, even though the values in the columns are correct.  It will just not pick up the value in Row 16.  Weird.  And it seems to run correctly every time except when column 2 is hidden.  I can't think of anything else to try short of recreating the report from scratch and it's a fairly sizeable one, so that would be the last option.

    Hi Linda,

Gosh, take me back. I too have several clients who rely on AFA to generate their financial statements. There were no changes that I know of to AFA as a result of all of the resent releases.

I tried a couple of hidden column and calculated field reports and everything works OK. This is kind of drastic if you have a mess of report options, but have you tried duplicating the report?
