When creating a customer in the D365 F&O, we maintain our Store Defaults, employees and our customers. We would like to have the customer format for continue with the auto-numbering but also would like to over-write the auto-number to create the employee number to match with corporate employee number for ease of use. Other than Admin rights, is there a privilege that allows the ability to modify the auto-number during the creation process? Possibly the rename process under the record info?
I found that modifying the Acco_331 : Acco_331 ALLOW USER CHANGES - To a lower number (YES) provided the auto-numbering for the customers and allows us to modify for the employee numbers which is lower number than the customer numbers.
Would this considered to be best practice for this senerio?
Yes you can not change a number seq unless Allow Change is selected.
Hello,
The Information technology manager role can maintain number sequence apart from Sys Admin role.
Hi Pvansickler,
If you use global number sequence for customers, you can create a separate number sequence per customer group.
For example, I have created a new number sequence for employee customer group:
Once you create a new customer with "ANS" as customer group, it will use unique number sequence for this purpose.
If you want to overwrite existing customer ID with new ID, as you mentioned you can use "Rename" function.
