Add a new user from O365 Admin centre

Hello All,

I experienced an issue to add users from O365 Admin centre to Business Central (online). I have Super permissions and a System administrator, but it keeps telling me that I have no permissions to do this action. Does anyone have the same/similar issue and can help me?

Thank you very much

Olena

I am pretty sure you need to be assigned the Security role.

    Cheers

Are you trying to add users directly into Business Central? If so, then this won't work.

The only way, as far as I am aware, to add users, is to assign the user the license from within Office 365 admin centre (or via CSP portal) and then use the 'Get Users from Office 365' button from the Users menu screen in Business Central.

This will then pull the users down from Office 365 into Business Central.

    Thanks, Steve,

This is exactly what I do. But once I click on "Get users from O365" - it says I have no permissions granted to conduct this action. And I have Super role in Business Central.

I cannot understand why it doesn't work.

    Thank you

To add users in Business Central online, your company's Office 365 administrator must first create the users in the Office 365 Admin Center. Then, the administrator can assign permissions to each user and groups of users.

Is your problem related to Office 365 admin center? If so, check if you're the Office 365 admin.

Hi Olena. If that's what you're doing, and you're already a SUPER role in Business Central, then it might be linked to not being the Office 365 administrator.

I wasn't aware that the SUPER role would also need to be O365 admin, but worth trying with an O365 administrator to see if this resolves your problem.

Did you also try Heather's suggestion of assigning the SECURITY role along with the SUPER?

    Hi

I am not an O365 Admin.  I have SUPER and SECURITY roles in BC and those roles do not have a company assigned to them as I can work across all companies.  I can use the Get Users function without error - so Olena - definitely try adding the SECURITY role.

Also, just a note because this happened last week.  My O365 administrator added some new users for me, he logged into their accounts to ensure they were activated.  They would not appear in BC when I used the Get Users.  I stumbled across another post somewhere that said the user needed to log in for them to appear.

So I logged in as each user and switched into BC with that user - then they appeared in the users list and I could assign all the security after that.  Just something to keep in mind if you get past the error message - but they still don't appear.

    Cheers

    Heather
