What is the best way of moving a very large amount of data from NAV 2009 to D365?

Hello,

We are in the process of migrating a customer from Dynamics NAV 2009 to Dynamics 365. The customer has a large amount of items, about 900000, and I'm trying to decide on the
best method of migrating the data.

Searching these forums it seems I have two options.

1. Use Rapid Start to export and import the data.
2. Import the data via the API using an XMLport.

I don't know if using Rapid Start is even a viable option here. How many ittems would you be able to export and import at a time?

Assuming Rapid Start is still an option, wish one would you recommend? What are the pros and cons of the two methods?

With that volume rapid start is a no no for me. I would look at XML ports as you can govern more with the field level validation. Yes you can turn off validation in rapid start but it does  table dependency checks in addition to field validation.

For that amount of records I would think a number of batches are needed too.

Do it through XML port. Rapid start is good for medium size of data.
