Suggesstion please : Upgrading from GP8.0 to latest version

Posted on by 18,265

Hi,

One of our old client still using GP8.0 and they want to go for latest GP version i.e. 2010; Can anyone suggest should I upgrade from 8.0 to GP10 and then 2010? or keep GP8.0 setup as it is and take opening balance and then do company setup for GP 2010?

I like to update you that client had not paid any license renewal fees all these years.

Your earliest reply is appreciable.

Thanks
Sandip

Good evening.  There's a feature in the community to start a conversation with somebody.  I sent you a message with a very long link to an upgrade path website.  When I tried to post it here I was unsuccessful.

    You can follow this guide.

I,too, would assume that they have paid their license fees. If they image their servers, I would slap the database onto one of the images and proced from there. At least this way of anything goes wrong, the original data remains untouched.

    Hi Sandip,

Has the client now paid the licence fee and therefore eligible for the upgrade?

If so, i would upgrade them from 8.0 to 10 SP5 and then to 2010R2 SP2.

I recently  did this for a client but also you have to do it on an intermediary machine as it gets awkward around SQL versions.

    Regards,

    Geoff James
