Business Central Outlook Add-in Issue

Hi everyone,

Has anyone encountered this issue with the Business Central Outlook Add-in for Sandbox environment?

I can view the Customer and Vendor Contact Insights without any problems, but when I try to create a new document (such as a Sales Quote or Sales Order), it fails and the option is unavailable.

Has anyone experienced this before or knows how to fix it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi Stefanie,
this rings a bell, usually it's the sandbox missing HttpClient permission. Contact Insights works because it's mostly read-only, but creating a document (New, Sales Quote) needs the Outlook REST API extension to reach out, and in sandbox that extension needs Allow HttpClient Requests turned on explicitly, not on by default like production. Go to Extension Management, find Outlook REST API extension (or Current User Connector, depends what you use), open Configure and check that setting.

I'd also check email is actually set up in that sandbox, without a working account the document flow can fail with the same message. Not 100% sure this is your exact case but matches close. Which connector you on, M365 or current user?

Glad to help - follow up if anything is unclear.

    Hello,
Since Contact Insights works but document creation fails, the add-in connection itself is probably fine; the failure is more likely occurring when Business Central tries to create or send the document through the email integration. In the sandbox, open Extension Management, locate the Microsoft 365 Connector, Current User Connector, and Outlook REST API extensions, choose Configure, and confirm Allow HttpClient Requests is enabled. Also verify the user has permission to create Sales Quotes/Orders, that email is correctly configured under Email Accounts/Email Scenarios, and test the same action in Outlook on the web to rule out a desktop cache issue. If it still fails, use Copy details and check Business Central telemetry because the exact error will show whether it is an HttpClient, permission, or email authentication problem.

    Hi,

I have enabled Allow HttpClient Requests for Microsoft 365 Connector, Current User Connector, and Outlook REST API extensions.

However, I encountered an error when trying to send a sample email message using the Outlook Add-in in the Sandbox environment. The same action works successfully in the Production environment.

Could this be caused by a configuration or setup difference between the Sandbox and Production environments?
