Automated transformation of data

Hello,

My organisation does component accounting on our fixed assets. We have around 40k fixed assets with 7 sub assets each, which all require depreciation every month. Currently this is done in Excel manually and loaded into huge journals.

Is it possible to connect to my fixed assets entity, calculate the value of the depreciation and transform this into a journal, automatically on a monthly basis? If so, what solutions should I be looking at using?

Thanks,
Michael

Thanks for the replies. I am using D365 Finance, I posted it here as I assumed the solution would be something Power Platform related, but I am happy to be corrected.

Not sure which end product you are using, and as mentioned below it sounds like the Microsoft ERP applications have tools for this.

However, just in case you are not using one of those tools you could take a look at Dataflows as an option? You can use a dataflow to connect to your Assets and Sub-Assets, apply your depreciation logic, and then either update the records or create journal entries based on the updates. Dataflows are great at handling relatively large volumes, and they can be scheduled to run on a regular basis or initiated manually.

    Hello,

Yes, this is possible in both Dynamics 365 Business Central and Finance. However, you selected the Power Platform integration category for your question, which makes it a bit confusing. Could you clarify what exactly you want to do and where you intend to implement this automation?

    Thanks

    Hi Michael,

I'm not able to understand what you do today and want to change tomorrow. Can you please elaborate on your question? Do you want to start using fixed assets in Dynamics 365 Finance or do you want to use information from your Excel sheet to import data into journals?
