RM Statements (old method) - Save a Copy?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

For years our company has run an offline statements system, designed before I joined and for some customers they get 19 documents a month!

We are going standard from GP functionality BUT one nice thing about our external system is that it saves a copy in our customer portal.

Can the system out of the box save a copy of the PDF that is generate during the process in a directory?

That's good if your team can develop. What do you mean by extractin routine?

Usually these type of print window create 1 long report having all the records, we did dexterity customization for the similar kind of PA print invoice form, loop through the invoice range, one by one set from and to invoice to the the selected range invoice and so able to print them separately and saving in shared path, after that will conver them to pdf and email the customer.

Nope those options wont work.  Even if I "print" the remainder it prints them all in one long PDF.  I will have my team develop an extraction routine.

If you are using this window then the two encircled button can help you do what you want to do, on print button it it email the statement to the customer and at the same time will save report in a specified file path. but it will not convert your report in pdf.

pdf part of the task could be done by customization.we did it for PA reports.

Yes.  But not manually because we sends out over 1000 statements. So as we email them via the system functionality I want to retain a copy if possible.  I have other ways to do this such as BCC a system email account and use a file extractor but if there was a way without the extra step that would be good.

So now you will use GP reports? and want them to save in pdf form?

The old system is irrelevant for the discussion (we are replacing it) but is basically an Access Database that takes snapshots weekly and produces several different format reports for different customer groups.  Written in Access, VBA and SQL and has become way to complicated to support.

I am not very good in understanding questions, excuse me if my questions sound stupid. What is your offline statement system is ? On which tool is has been designed? Do you run your external system stand alone? or with GP?
