Did Email a Link Change?

Posted on by 30

I seem to remember this was an issue, then it wasn’t, now it seems to be an issue again, or I could be completely wrong. If someone in the Customer Service Hub emails a link from an Account to someone in the Sales Hub. The User with access to the Sales Hub clicks the link and gets a “We can’t open this app” error. I understand that the appid is in the URL, but it wasn’t always there, was it?

Is there some setting somewhere that lets me exclude the appid from the email a link URL or a setting that just opens the record in the app the User does have access too?

    Hi,

I apologize for not understanding your issue clearly.
For user B, who only has access to Sales Hub, when he opens the account link shared by user A from Customer Service Hub, he gets an error that We can't open this app.
Both User A and User B have access to all Account entity records within the organization.

When I manually remove the appid part of the link URL and open it again, for user B it automatically opens the corresponding account record page in Sales Hub.

    Best Regards,

    Dengliang Li,

Are you saying that if you have User A with access only to the Customer Service Hub and User B with only access to the Sales Hub, with both Users having full CRUD privileges to all Account records in CRM.  If User A emails a link to User B from an Account, that User B is able to click the link and the Account record is shown and they do not get an "app access error"?

If it works for you, what version of CRM are you running?  I'm running the latest cloud version and it does not work for me.

    Thank you,

    Jim

    Hi,

I have not encountered the same issue as you in my testing.
In my testing, the users who can access Sales Hub but cannot access the account record in the link get the following error.

Remove the appid from the link URL, either manually or via Flow.
The body of the email uses the code.
    <a href="https://<YourOrg>.crm.dynamics.com/main.aspx?&pagetype=entityrecord&etn=account&id=items('Apply_to_each')? ['accountid']"></a>

The final result is shown below.
