Fiscal Periods & Data Import

Posted on by 35

Hello All,

We have 5 Companies and rather then setting up 10yrs worth of fiscal periods manually, i wanted to know if their is a way to import fiscal periods via integration manager, or even by copying a db table from SQL to the other company databases?

Also we are getting ready to import our Quickbooks data into MS Dynamics GP 2010 and i wanted to know if there is a way to import all transactions up to a date straight to the GL. Then take the remaining transactions (maybe 1 or 2 weeks worth) and post it to the checkbook? We uploaded all our Quickbooks transactions to SQL and used a query to import. The initial test's have worked successfully with the import of ALL data.

Your help is much appreciated.

Thank You

Setup one company and then copy over the SY40100 and SY40101 using SQL (make sure to delete data and overwrite and make sure to mark to index.  Don't know of a way to break up your import.  If what you are trying to do is create the O/S checks in your checksbooks.  You can bring the o/s checks in as bank transactions (thru Integration Manager).  Have them hit the same cash account  for the debit and credit since they are already be included in your GL but then they will be in you banking module so that you can reconcile.  You would also have to put in the beginning check balance and the amount of the o/s checks but then you should be able to balance.

Fiscal periods are not a destination for Integration Manager.    Perhaps the fastest way to do this for 5 companies is to set up years in one company and then copy the table from one to the other four.  Can you identify the table holding the fiscal year information?

On the GL transactions, suggest you use integration manager for this.   One of the big things to worry about on a direct table import is account index in the GL20000/GL30000 tables.   Account Index is NOT the account number, only  pointer to the the GL00100 / GL00105 tables.
