Are there any consequences to changing the GL account(s) on the Inventory Item when you have inventory on hand, purchase orders in process, sales orders in process, work orders, etc.?

Hi Deb,

The old default accounts will have already been recorded in the database on those transactions that are in process. So those will not be altered when you make changes in the item setup to the default accounts.

Carolyn,

Thank you. Do the transactions in process keep the "old" default accounts, or will they pick up the "updated/new" account numbers.

Hi Deb,

There aren't any consequences to changing that account. Any documents or transactions that you already entered for that item already used the default account and that is set. But all future transactions entered for that inventory item will use the new accounts. Let me know if you have additional questions.
