Re-Adding the users

Posted on by 85

Hi,

Is it possible in CRM 2016 to delete a user and re-add it. The user was recently added and still has no activity in the system.

Thanks.

You can modify the queue name and the mailbox name directly from CRM.

Just go to the user records, click on their links, and change the names as needed.

Not sure why you need to do that, but, if it solves your problem...

Actually the problem is that the user's mailbox and queue name are wrong in CRM and I could not find a way to change it. Is there a way to change them?

You cannot delete a user in any CRM environment. You can only disable a user.

After you disable a user, if you need to, you can reactivate it.

If you disabled a user, and then created a new user with the same credentials, and you need to have all the activity stream of the disabled users, here is what you can do:

    1. Change the login information of the newly created users. If you don't have an AD account you can use, you can set the login to a fake user (such as john.doe@domain.local).

    2. Reactivate the disabled user, and give it a license and security role (if not already there).

    3. Disable the user that you set as fake.

    Hope this helps.

    OnPrem ? OnLine ?

Online, if you remove a license, the user will remain in the Users of the CRM (disabled) but if you reassign a license within one month, the user will be able to access the crm again. After one month the recycle bin of the AAD will do it's cleaning and the user is lost. This will lead to a creation of a new user (different guid) in the crm.

OnPrem, i think you can add / remove the license on the fly.

But to "permanently" delete a user from the DB , you can't do that (supported way), unless you contact MS with a business reason so they can perform it for you
