Hi Sam,
Yes there is, but not in the description field, the below explanation describes how to have the Customer Name column displayed in the Ledger Entries. Please note that this could depend on the version of BC you working in, this is in BC 17.2.
In the Sales & Receivable Setup there is an option for Copy Customer Name to Entries, set this option to true. BC will notify you that you will need to schedule the routine to run for updating all existing Ledger Entries, so if this is for a production instance then I recommend that this be done out of working hours.
After the routine is run you will see the Customer Name in the Ledger Entries, for future postings these will be done upon posting.
