Deleting a payment from receivables

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

I recently deleted a payment from my receivables journal, as a stop payment was placed on a check I already deposited.  I was able to delete the apply to invoice, however now I have a credit in my cash account.  How do I zero out this credit without affecting any of my other accounts?

Thanks,

Kelly

If this payment is hanging around the checkbook module waiting to be deposited, you can do a Clear Unused Receipts to get it out of there without affecting anything. If you are trying to increase your checkbook balance without affecting your GL, create a Deposit without Receipts. We really need to know what you mean by 'cash'. Is it GL or is it checkbook register?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

So your general ledger cash account balance is lower than your checkbook balance? Or is it the other way around?

    Leslie,

You’re right, I voided it from receivables, but now there is a credit in my GL cash account that I need to clear off.

    Hi Kelly,

If you already deposited the check, I don't see how you 'deleted' it. You can 'NSF' it or Void it, but I don't think you can delete it. I'm a little confused as to where you stand. When you say 'cash account' are you talking about the GL cash account or the Checkbook balance? Is one of them correct and the other one not? How did you 'delete' the cash receipt?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
