Create new Company Wizard

When creating a new company in business central, after entering the name the next window brings up a list of modules to select to install or not see below.  It is not clear to me what the effect of either checking or unchecking these modules is, as all the functionality seems to be installed in the cloud regardless.  Is this correct?

Thanks

Fixed Asset

Yes, your reading is right. Those checkboxes don't install or remove features — they only decide which demo data gets generated. The functionality itself comes from Business Central's applications and extensions, not from anything you tick here, so it's available either way. Warehouse ticked gives you sample locations, zones and bins, Fixed Asset gives sample assets and depreciation books, and so on.

Two things worth knowing. The modules have dependencies between them, Common being the foundational one, so a subset is fine as long as what it needs is included. Problems usually come from picking modules whose prerequisites were left out.

And for a company that will actually be used, normally you don't want demo data at all — pick the setup data only option, then load the real master data.

The genuinely optional things like Subscription Billing, E-Documents or Sustainability are separate extensions, handled in Extension Management at environment level, not from this wizard.

Glad to help - follow up if anything is unclear.

►  If this solved it, marking it verified helps others too.

As Grigorios mentioned it doesn't actually disable any modules but you would be missing setup for each of those modules. Instead the create new company wizard creates sample data for you to use in a test scenario. I usually don't see a problem with just enabling it all as I prefer to have all the setup tables prepared.

    Hi @MH-06060002-0 ,

Microsoft have Contoso Demo Data Extension. If that extension is installed, then based on your selected module data will be executed to generate demo data for testing. If you are setting up a production environment, then you should keep it clean and not select any Boolean.

    Hello @MH-06060002-0,

I agree with previously provided responses, whichever module you untick from there, you will not get relevant setup data. That's it!
