Displaying unique value in lookup

Posted on by 55

Hi Team,

we are facing issues with displaying unique value in lookup.

In Account entity we have account name field ,which will be same for more than one records. In Price quote form we have a lookup field to account entity, where account name will be displayed.

as per business requirement there is no filter criteria to fetch unique account name values. is there any approach to loop through account data and showing only unique account name values.

Thanks

I would suggest you to create a parent account for all the same account and use this accounts in lookup (filter parent account does not contain data) or have a field something as "Display in Quote" and flag it as YES on one of the duplicate accounts and use it in lookup filter criteria.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

As I mentioned account Number and accountid both are different.

Here as per your screenshot. Example:- you have records which same account name , account number or all the fields contains same data just like FUT 3 - Name1

When you create record in account entity, automatically create accountid against that record.

So either they have same data in FUT 3 - Name1 in all 3 records but accountid is different for all 3 records.

we cannot filter out unique display name . Better way is to use other column which mentioned by me , Leo or Pravin

Account Number and accountid both are different fields.

Account number might be same for two or more record but accountid is unique for every record.

    Hi Thanks for reply.

Unfortunately this will not help us as Account name and account number(id) both are repeated.

There is a unique value in each row but we can't use it in filter criteria, because they may get changed or deleted.

I would suggest you to add email address in lookup view so that you would be able to find unique account details

    Hi partner,

Lookup view could show first 3 columns of field which added in lookup view.

For example, This is the account look up view.

    pastedimage1569837537028v1.png

There are 6 columns in it ,and the system will only show the first 3 fields, but if one of the 3 fields is empty, Then D365 will skip this field to select the next one, e.g. if MainPhone is empty, so the view will show Account Number.

Like this function ,you could add other fields to help you find the right one from lookup views.

    Hope it helps.
    Best Regards,

    Leo

    Hi yogesh_Deloitte,

In Account Enity, every Record you create either same account name or not have accountid with it which is unique for all. If you want unique account name how will you identify which account name you want to display because same account name have different unique id(accountid). So my suggestion is you can do one thing you can add unique data in lookup column like below image

    pastedimage1569837293054v1.png

here the Relationship and account number is also with account name which differentiate two same account name. (check which field is uniquely differentiate the account record and put that in lookup so when user click if same account name is present it will differentiate with that column)
