We have experienced 'challenges' in creating a view and publishing it as the default. Trying several ways, we have:

1) Created the view and published it out as the default to users and also tried to a group of users

2) Had the user create the view and copied it to users

3) Created it in our dev environment, exported it to production, imported it in.

The problem is regardless of the way we publish/copy the view to the any type of user, it always has to be selected from the view dropdown rather than replacing the standard view with the modified one and making it the default.

If you can give some best practices for making the view the default one so the user doesn't need to pick it from the dropdown, that would be a tremendous help

Thanks for your workaround, but I think it should work from any other user as well.

To comment on your CRM question, the personalization and saved views option is differently implemented in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.

Hi Everyone for responding. So the workaround we had to do was have a user created the view (keep in mind I am a sys admin in d365 too). Once she created it and published it herself the EXACT same we did it and listed below. According to her, it became the default. Strange that she had to create and publish it to make it work.

On a side note, I am a bit familiar with customizing in D365 CE. The way you can do customizations there is to click on the gear and navigate to customizations. There you see a tree on the left with all the different types of objects and in this situation you can make a new view and set it as the default. Is there a 'backdoor' way of utilizing a tool like in D365CE and change it similarly?

Hi,

You can publish a view based on roles to default to any user being assigned with that role, this will override the the standard view and put your specific view as default

You can also publish the view based on entity specific, you are allowed to define which all entities you want to publish this view

Hi Adis,

This is how we do create and push out the view. For some reason even though we are specifying it to be the default the standard one shows. Our modified on is there, just in the dropdown so someone has to pick it.

Yes they can pin it. But we don't want to give them a choice, It is a matter of standardizing the view across the organization without having them choose. Thank you

Hi,

I wrote a blog about personalization, where I also covered publishing views as a default view. You may need to read a bit through it, however, to put it on point, its all about hitting the swith "Publish as default view" and assigning it to roles, so users need to have the roles.

Hi,

Is it the behavior for all users? Do the users have other views already marked as default? Can the users mark the new view as default or is it then also ignored?
