Custom fields in Talent are not showing up in CDS, why is that so?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I created a few custom fields in D365 Talent and wanted them to show up in the CDS environment but those fields are not showing up. Why is that so?

    Hi Bansari,

With Standard dropdown, you cannot update with text fields. Most of the time the dropdown is based on some other table or enum.

What is your business requirement to do this? If you give some examples then we can propose some solution here.

Please put your question in a new post and mark the answer if you are agree with it. It will help others.

    Hi,

Thanks for your response @Parag Chapre

    @André Arnaud de Calavon.

I have another query in D365 HR. Can we update standard dropdown field with text fields? If yes, then how can we?

    Regards,

    Bansari Pandya.

    Hi Bansari,

When you created a column in Dataverse (new name for CDS), you can only use PowerApps and open the Power App from HR. It would be probably better to use the custom field functionality as suggested by Parag.

    Hi Bansari,

This is not possible at this moment. You have to create a custom field in D365 HR and sync with CDS.

    Hi @Parag Chapre,

Yes I already read this blog. I know we can add custom field in Talent and connect it with the CDS.

But can we do it in opposite manner?

My question is I create one custom field in CDS entity and if I want to see that field in Dynamics 365 Talent? In that case how can I?

    Thanks,

    Bansari Pandya.

Hi, there is a detailed blog which will explain the exact process on how to publish custom fields, keep in mind that you can only do this on entities that are available in the CDS 2.0 for Talent:

    Hi Malin,

I am trying to use these custom fields I created in Talent for Finance and Operation. I want to use the same fields between Talent and Finance and operation so data will flow between both application.
