Hi there,
I've run into bit of an issue.
Case: I want to create a form that registers contact info on new or existing customers and adds them to a chosen subscription list. The form is embedded on my client's website either as a script or an iFrame (hasn't decided yet). The form is basically a simple sign-up form that should create new contacts with their information if there is not match on e-mail OR update information if there is a match with existing customer.
: form
Issue: I get and error message stating: "If you want to create a Contact, the field Company Name (parentcustomerid) must be included on the form and marked as a required field."
The only way I can fix this issue is by creating a form field that is mapped to parentcustomerud, which is a look-up field. If I do this, a dropdown bar will show ALL companies in the CRM and that is obviously not a good solution - both in terms of GDPR and also my client doesn't want that information to be public.
So far, I have solved this on another form by hiding the field and making it prefilled. It work on existing customers, but not for new one as they will not have prefilled information in the field and thus are not able to submit the form.
Question: How do I best create a form that I can use as a simple sign-up form and embed on an external website? Must include subscription lists!
I really appreciate your help.
Regards,
Emil
Thanks for the useful replies. It also happened to me when the external website had an error on the server and the form did not work either. in that case, the external website was mine and I could fix it easily. But before I mention that there is something wrong with it, I wonder how many users faced problems using it, and for a pity, no one wrote to the support of my website. That is why I started using the https://linko.app/ to check my website for errors automatically every minute and prevent crashes.
Hi Emil,
Yes, it is just a warning message rather than an error message. It does not affect you to go live a form.
If this helped you, I'd appreciate it if you'd mark this as a Verified Answer, which may in turn help others as well.

Hi Nya,
Thanks, but I need the field to be required on other forms, so that won't work.
I found out however, that even though the system gives a warning message saying that the field is required, you can still go ahead and go live with the form without including the field.
So case is solved. :)
Hi Emil,
Please navigate to Advanced Settings > Settings > Customization > Customize the system, expand the list of entities and find the Company Name field in Contact entity.
Then check the Field Requirement option of the field. If it is set as Business required, please switch it into Optional. After saving the modification, it will no longer need to be included in the form and marked as a required field.
If this helped you, I'd appreciate it if you'd mark this as a Verified Answer, which may in turn help others as well.
Best Regards,
Nya
