Hi,
Can anyone tell me which product Dynamics NAV or Dynamics GP is better for retail industry. Please also give reasoning in detail.

NAV cannot be pidgeon-holed to any one industry. The LS Retail version of NAV runs every ikea in Europe. We have installed NAV (with LS Retail) into numerous, high volume businesses in the US. We have also installed the only not-for-profit, retail versions of NAV anywhere. NAV also has a fully-integrated credit card processing solution called ChargeLogic. Unlike GP with RMS, LS Retail is a truly integrated, end to end retail solution.
I should also add that NAV's financials are as strong, and in some ways stronger, than GP. We have clients using NAV in manufacturing, distributing, retail (LS Retail), and non-profit (Serenic Navigator). NAV has been outselling GP for several years now and should never be mistaken for a one-trick pony.
Actually, both products are geared to the warehouse sales industry and not retail. I have put GP in a low volumn retail site with reasonable success where the rest of the company ran on GP and its manufacturing processing.
There is also a Retail Management System that interfaces with GP so that GP can provide strong accounting and inventory/replenishment planning. NAV is great in manufacturing, is designed to be customized to meet specific manufacturer's requirements, but not strong in the accounting side.
Disclosure: Yes, I support and install GP. However, I have regularly checked out NAV for many years.
