Hi, Thanks in Advance

When I am posting the Posted Purchase Invoice Document than the Exchange Rate applied on the Document is different from the one when line goes to Vendor Ledger Entry.

Currency Rate in Posted Purchase Invoice Document:

Currency Rate in Vendor Ledger Entries:

What unit-amount rounding precision and unit-amount decimal places do you have set for the two currencies?

    Kind Regards

Business Central's Vendor Ledger Entry fields are specifically designed to store the original currency factor used when the entry was created, while the adjusted factor represents a factor after currency adjustments.

As far as I know, this is standard behavior. By default, Business Central recalculates the exchange rate in reverse within Vendor Ledger Entries, as seen in the JPY example below.

    Thanks

    Hello,

You are using Fix: Relational Currency, so Vendor Ledger Entries should display as 0.229443.

Since you specifically mentioned there is no Custom Extension installed on these pages then what about within Purch-Post logic?
I will suggest you to create a Sandbox (removed all custom extensions) and perform a same data test again.

    Hello Ahmad Subhani,

These two values are not simply the same exchange rate shown in reverse or caused by rounding. 0.2222222222 corresponds to approximately 1 EUR = 4.50 SAR, while 0.229443 corresponds to approximately 1 EUR = 4.3584 SAR. In your Vendor Ledger Entry, both Original Currency Factor and Adjusted Currency Factor are 0.222222..., which means the vendor entry was originally created with that factor and hasn't subsequently been revalued by Adjust Exchange Rates. The Posted Purchase Invoice, however, has its own Currency Factor field on Purch. Inv. Header (Table 122), separate from the Vendor Ledger Entry. Microsoft even has standard Codeunit 325 "Update Currency Factor", which can modify the currency factor stored on a posted purchase invoice header without rewriting the original Vendor Ledger Entry, so it is technically possible for these records to become different.

I would therefore not consider the mismatch expected without tracing it further. An important clue in your screenshot is that the invoice has Document Date 05/08/2026 but Posting Date 08/09/2026, while the payment posted on 08/09/2026 has factor 0.22944335, almost exactly the rate currently displayed on the Posted Purchase Invoice. Microsoft documents that foreign-currency postings use the exchange rate applicable to the posting process/date and that payment rates can legitimately differ, with the difference posted as realized FX gain/loss.

I suggest one simple test: create a new EUR purchase invoice, use Page Inspection before posting and note Purchase Header."Currency Factor"; post it and immediately—before payment, application, Update Document, or Adjust Exchange Rates—compare Purch. Inv. Header."Currency Factor" with Vendor Ledger Entry."Original Currency Factor". They should represent the factor used for that posting. If they already differ immediately in a clean Microsoft-only environment, I would raise this as a Microsoft support case with your exact BC version/build. If they match immediately and the Posted Purchase Invoice later changes to 0.229443, then something after posting is modifying the posted header factor, and that is where I would trace next.

    Regards,

Hi, I wouldn't trust the Change Exchange Rate window on a posted document. It reads also from the Currency Exchange Rates table for the posting date, and depending on the Fix Exchange Rate Amount setting of that rate it can show you the table value, not what's stored on the invoice. The payment line in your screenshot has 0.22944, same as the window, so that one looks like today's table rate.

What counts is the Currency Factor field on the posted header. Open page inspection on the posted invoice, Ctrl+Alt+F1, and look for Currency Factor. My guess is you find 0.2222 there, same as the vendor ledger entry. That is exactly 1 / 4.5, so probably the rate valid on 05/08 when the order was made. If somebody changed the posting date later and said No to the question about updating the exchange rate, the old factor stays and goes to the ledger.

Glad to help - follow up if anything is unclear.
