Windows 10 Creator and GP 2015 R2

Posted on by 1,045

Is GP 2015 R2 compatible with Windows 10 Creator?  One of our users in IT installed the Creator update on his machine and now receives the following error:

Unhandled object exception:  the parameter is incorrect

Exception_Class_Object_Exception

Exception SubClass:-2147024809

I copied his security settings to a GP test user on my Windows 7 machine and I do not receive the error.

    Mike,

The older releases of Mekorma used to allow selective installation of the options and company upgrades, once it was installed.. This has changed a few releases ago and now the Mekorma installer just installs everything and you have to remove the unwanted options manually.. As the well the table upgrade process doesn't ask you anything, it just goes on and processes all the companies, including your TEST companies.. or companies where the product isn't used at all..

I know.. very frustrating. I'd rather like to have a choice to select at least which companies require upgrade or not.. and/or where it should be installed at the 1st time.

I just wanted to update this so everyone knows what happened. I spent about an hour and a half on the phone with Mariano and Mekorma tech support yesterday afternoon and they were able to determine that it was a customization that we have that caused the problem. Once I removed the MICRFRM.DIC file from our install, I was able to complete the upgrade. Lesson learned for next time!

Thanks for the reply. The team at Mekorma is actively working on it. I was just seeing if anyone else had a similar problem. I will wait for them to get back with me.

    Jeanenne,

If you read back a few replies in this thread, there are some comments about an error happening during table updates, but likely linked to the additional modules of Mekorma.. To me this seems more related to a product update/process issue than your actual server (be that a Citrix or else).. You could try to run the process from a workstation and it would almost certainly run into the same problem.

The support Team of Mekorma should be able to work this out.

We started from build 005 and are running through Citrix on Windows 2008 R2.

The GPPT installer checks if the ME PM is a more recent build than the one in the package, and doesn't replace it. It can be a problem if GPPT had been there before and at a time it wasn't checking the build of PM, thus replacing it and making MICR complain eventually. That's why the patch from Mekorma provides the latest .DIC & DLL files for the PM to deploy manually.

    Beat,

    Yes, we have GPPT.

We did copy some of the product manager files manually to the machines that only have GPPT installed which is almost all of them.

    Mariano,

The installer seems to check if I have ANY instances running of GP. However, only certain instances of GP in our environment use Mekorma....Is there any reason this update requires all instances of GP to be closed, even ones that have nothing to do with Mekorma?

    Ron,

There is no need AFAIK to run GP Utilities after the installation of the Mekorma MICR product.. Never did and my module upgraded successfully all the time.  The only issue you may run into is the ME Product Manager version if you use also GPPT, which setup package may carry a different build version of ME PM. Mekorma has a patch for this too.

I just completed the upgrade from build 001 to 055 and had no errors pop-up. To me this looks like an internal table issue that only support will be able to fix.

    Hi Jeanenne,

We are running update 055 on GP 2016 R2.

We did the upgrade on server 2012 r2 and run MICR on windows 7 from windows 10 Creator update.

You did not mention running GP utilities first before running GP but I assume you did that.

    Ron K.
