Data common to all companies

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I'd like to create a new company with the same data as an existing company in the same database. I know when making a backup of the old company I don't need to mark include objects. Should I mark "Data common to all companies"? What does that option do?

Since there is a tag "Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0: Other" I suppose he's using classic client :-)

If you are using NAV2013R2, you can check out this link community.dynamics.com/.../how-to-copy-company-specific-data-in-nav2013r2.aspx

Ticking "data common to all companies" will make the backup including report list, permission sets, user IDs, and printer selections: if you need to create a new company in the same database you don't need to chose this option since you will already have these data (it's referred to tables having DataPerCompany =No).
