Adding Tasks on Resource Schedule board.

Hi all,

I know that I need to create my “Tasks” with Generic Resources first to Generate the Requirements and be able to Book them!

But there is a requirement in which we have pre-assigned tasks which are not generic as it is pre-assigned to a resource. I am not sure how can we display/track those tasks under the resource scheduling board to see that which resource is working on which tasks and what is the availability of the resource. For Pre-assigned team members I am not able to create a booking and I am not able to see the tasks assigned to those on schedule board. Do I need to enable the Universal Resource Scheduling on Project Tasks entity to make it visible under resource schedule board?

    Hey there!

So, about those pre-assigned tasks and the Resource Scheduling Board – it's a bit tricky, but fear not!

For those tasks already assigned to specific rockstars, you don't necessarily need Generic Resources. Here's the hack: make sure those tasks are assigned directly to the real MVPs in your team. Forget generic, go specific!

Now, for the Resource Scheduling Board to show you the magic, Universal Resource Scheduling on the Project Tasks entity might just be your ticket. It's like the VIP pass to the scheduling party. Enable that, and boom, your tasks should start strutting their stuff on the board.

Remember, it's all about letting Dynamics 365 know who's the boss on those tasks. So, get those pre-assigned tasks to the right peeps and flick the switch for Universal Resource Scheduling. You'll be dancing with your resource data in no time!

So far I have learnt this form Dynamics lead at triotech systems. You can contact him there!

    Hi,

We analyzed the information you provided and tried to enable Universal Resource Scheduling for Field Service as described in the official documentation. However, from the results of our testing, the /WorkOrder/ entity has Universal Resource Scheduling enabled by default. this means that your issue may not be caused by this factor.

We are following up on your issue and trying to find a more effective solution. We will contact you if we find a new solution.

    Best Regards,
    Rudy Zhang
